Withlacoochee State Forest has many resident birds, including Red-cockaded and Pileated woodpeckers, Great Horned owls, Eastern Screech-Owls, Bachman's Sparrows in the winter, and herons, egrets, Osprey, Bald Eagles, and Barred Owls year round.
